Equipment

  • Espresso Machine

Ingredients

  • 50 ml espresso coffee
  • 3-4 pcs ice cube
  • sugar syrup based on your preference
  • bit rum

Instructions

  • Place 3-4 ice cubes at the bottom of a tall glass. This will help chill the coffee and keep it cold for longer.
  • Place a slice of lemon into the glass with the ice cubes. The citrus will infuse the drink with a fresh, zesty flavor.
  • Brew 50 ml of espresso and pour it over the ice and lemon. The hot espresso will mix with the ice, creating a cooling effect while maintaining the bold flavor of the coffee.
  • If you like a bit of sweetness, drizzle some simple sugar syrup into the drink. Stir well to ensure everything is combined.
  • If you’re feeling adventurous, add a little rum to the drink. Stir again, and your Mazagran coffee with lemon is ready to enjoy!

Notes

Recommended equipment:
Espresso Machine: For the best results, use an espresso machine that gives you a strong, rich shot of espresso. A good espresso machine will extract the deep, complex flavors that make this drink stand out.
Manual Espresso Maker: If you prefer a more hands-on approach, a manual espresso maker is also a great option. This method allows for precise control over the coffee-making process.
Coffee Grinder: A high-quality burr grinder is essential for grinding your coffee beans to the right consistency. Freshly ground coffee always makes a difference in the final flavor.

While the classic Mazagran coffee with lemon is fantastic on its own, you can easily mix things up by experimenting with different flavors and ingredients:
Add a Touch of Mint: For a more refreshing twist, add a sprig of fresh mint to your drink. It pairs wonderfully with the lemon and brings a cooling sensation to the drink.
Citrus Variations: While lemon is the traditional citrus used in Mazagran coffee, try experimenting with lime or orange for a different flavor profile.
Iced Coffee Mazagran: Instead of brewing hot espresso, you can use cold brew coffee for a smoother, less acidic flavor. This version is even more chilled, making it a perfect summer treat.
